Innis Inspiration – Christian Ramirez

“To be honest, I didn’t like Innis in my first year. The support system I had built for myself with the friends I gained before coming to Innis were no longer physically around and that was hard to accept. It wasn’t until the end of first year that I made real friends at Innis and it was because of them that I stayed and became involved in the residence.

Once I leave Innis, I’m going to forget the positions I held, the events I went to and the meetings I held. But the friends I’ve made will be the one thing I take with me. It may be cheesy to say, but my friends are like magical worlds I both treasure and want to protect; without them, I would not be the person I am today.

It’s not about getting involved, or getting elected nor about going to residence events to try to get back in the next year—it’s about meeting new people, making friends and having fun.

There’s been a lot of talk about legacies this year, and I’d say mine has nothing to do with being remembered by the residence, I’ve no interest in that. Mine is to not be forgotten by the friends I’ve made here. Honestly, there’s been ups and downs while here at the residence, but I would do it over and over just as long as I met my friends again.
